Church in the Barn is a Bible-believing independent church. We have run a big youth work for many years and as there is no pressure on the young people to come to church (although many have) there is always a large community of youth attached to the church at any one time.
Children are encouraged to join in the Sunday School activities and learn from the Bible in a creative manner.
Our youth contingent play an active part in the church and the younger youth (7-11yr olds) meet on a Thursday evening, while the older youth group meet on Fridays for the youth club and football ministry. Through the week we have various House Group/Bible Study options.
We have a part-time pastor and lots of volunteers to make church happen! Deacons, support team, children’s workers, youth leaders, worship team and welcome team.
We have links with other churches in Penrith, running evangelistic events, Christmas and lent activities and generally supporting each other. Our services are relaxed and informal, we take communion together most Sunday mornings.
Services usually start with a time of worship, which tends towards the modern, but does not exclude the old! Our services usually last about 1.5 hours and may include communion, testimonies, a message, worship and ministry. We do not believe that ministry is exclusive to the leadership team, encouraging the whole church to exercise spiritual gifts under their supervision and discernment.
